Frequently Asked Questions

Short answers to the questions we hear most often. If something is missing, message us — we reply within two hours, 09:00–21:00 EEST.

Booking & Payment

How do I make a booking?

Pick your vehicle, choose your dates, and confirm online. Payment runs through our secure checkout. You get an instant confirmation by email, and we follow up within two hours during business hours (09:00–21:00 EEST) with pickup details and a route briefing if you want one.

What is the minimum rental period?

Two nights (covering three calendar days) for every vehicle in our fleet. For longer trips of seven nights or more we apply a longer-stay discount automatically at checkout.

What payment methods do you accept?

Visa and Mastercard through Shopify Payments, plus PayPal. Deposit refunds at return are issued back to the original card.

Do I pay the full amount upfront?

Yes — the full rental amount is charged at booking, the same way any online purchase works. No surprise final charge at pickup. The only thing held separately is the security deposit, which is a pre-authorisation on your card and released after return.

Is there a security deposit?

Yes — held on your card as a pre-authorisation at pickup, not charged. It is released within 5–10 working days after the vehicle is returned in the same condition.

  • Jimny × 4: €250
  • Ford Ranger Wildtrak: €400
  • CamperBuzz (VW ID. Buzz): €500
Is there a cleaning fee?

Yes — a mandatory one-time cleaning fee is added automatically at booking: €50 for Jimny models and €80 for the Ford Ranger and CamperBuzz. It covers a professional deep clean of the vehicle and rooftop tent after your trip, so every rental starts fresh.

What is your cancellation policy?

We apply the Moderate cancellation plan. The percentages below show what is retained from the rental fee. The security deposit is always refunded in full when a booking is cancelled.

  • More than 24 weeks before pickup: 10% retained · 90% refund
  • Between 10 and 24 weeks before pickup: 15% retained · 85% refund
  • Within 10 weeks of pickup: 15% retained · 85% refund
  • Within 6 weeks of pickup: 25% retained · 75% refund
  • Within 2 weeks of pickup: 40% retained · 60% refund
  • Within 1 week of pickup: 70% retained · 30% refund
  • Within 1 day of pickup: 100% retained · No refund

We strongly recommend travel insurance for unexpected events. If your trip is cancelled due to a documented flight or ferry disruption, contact us — we work case-by-case.

Insurance & Liability

What insurance is included?

Every booking includes comprehensive third-party liability (mandatory under Greek law), collision damage cover with a deductible, theft cover with a deductible, and 24/7 roadside assistance across mainland Greece and the major islands.

What is the deductible (excess)?

The default deductible depends on the vehicle and is shown in your booking summary. At pickup you can buy a "zero excess" upgrade to reduce it to zero.

Is roadside assistance included?

Yes — 24/7, included in every booking, across mainland Greece and on the main islands we serve. One phone number, real people, no offshore call centre.

What happens if I have an accident?

Stop, make sure everyone is safe, call the local police if anyone is injured or another vehicle is involved (112 in Greece), and call us immediately. We guide you through the steps, send roadside assistance if needed, and handle the paperwork.

Am I covered off-road?

Insurance applies on the Greek paved and unpaved road network. Our vehicles are not recommended for hard off-roading — rock crawling, deep mud, water crossings, racing — and those uses are not covered. Greece’s road network includes plenty of gravel mountain tracks and back roads, which is what most overlanders are here for. If your planned route looks borderline, ask us first.

Can I add a second driver?

Yes. We include one second driver in every direct booking — no extra fee. They must hold a valid license and be present at pickup with their ID.

Driving & Routes

What documents are required to drive?

At pickup we ask for two documents from the main driver (and any second driver):

  1. A valid driving license. EU category B is accepted. Non-EU licenses must be in Latin characters or accompanied by an International Driving Permit (IDP).
  2. An identity document. ID card for EU residents, passport for non-EU.

Minimum two years of driving experience required.

What is the minimum age to rent?

21 years for the Suzuki Jimnys and the Ford Ranger. 25 years for the CamperBuzz. Drivers under 25 may be subject to a young-driver supplement on certain vehicles.

Can I take the vehicle to the islands?

Yes — to most major ferry routes within Greece. Tell us at booking which islands you plan to visit so we can confirm ferry-line eligibility and brief you on overnight ferry crossings.

Can I cross the border into another country?

Our rentals are scoped for travel inside Greece. Cross-border trips can be arranged on request — they require an additional cross-border insurance supplement and a small administration fee. Tell us at booking and we will confirm the supplement before you decide.

Are there mileage limits?

Every vehicle gets the same generous allowance: 250 km per day, averaged over the trip. Over the allowance, we charge €0.20 per extra kilometre. Most overlanders never hit the limit — Greek mountain roads are slow on purpose, and the best stops happen close together.

Are there roads I should avoid?

Two situations: (a) declared off-limits routes like military zones or active wildfire areas — your GPS and our briefing both flag these, and (b) routes that exceed the vehicle's clearance or wading depth. Our vehicles are not intended for hard off-roading (rock crawling, deep mud, water crossings, racing) — those uses are not covered. We give you a pre-trip route check on request; just tell us where you want to go.

Camping & Equipment

What gear comes with the vehicle?

Every booking includes the rooftop tent and mattress, a 35L cooler, a portable single-burner gas stove with gas, a basic camping kitchen kit, a folding table, two camping chairs, a fire extinguisher and a first-aid kit.

Where am I allowed to camp?

At organized campsites and designated overland stops. Greece has a strong network of organized campsites and legal park-up spots — we send you a curated list with your booking, including coordinates, facilities, and which ones are open in low season.

We do not promote wild or unlicensed camping. It is illegal in Greece, fines are steep, and it damages the country we love driving in. Our route briefings stay on the legal side of the line.

How long does the rooftop tent take to set up?

Soft-shell tents (Crow's Nest, most Jimnys): three minutes solo, ninety seconds with two people. Hard-shell tents (Hawk's Nest): under sixty seconds — pop, climb, sleep.

How many people sleep in the tent?

Two adults comfortably on all models. The hard-shell V2 fits two adults plus one small child. The Ford Ranger and CamperBuzz can carry an additional ground tent on request for groups of three or four.

Is bedding included?

The mattress is included. Sheets, pillows, and sleeping bags are not part of the standard kit — you can request them at booking for an additional fee. Tell us what you need and we will confirm the supplement.

What about cooking?

A single-burner gas stove with gas, small camping pots and pans, two sets of cutlery (knives and forks), two plates, two mugs, basic spices, and a washing-up kit. Restock anything else at any Greek supermarket — we send you a starter list with the booking.

Pickup & Return

Where do I pick up the vehicle?

Two bases near Athens:

  • Agios Stefanos — 15 minutes from Athens International Airport via the Attiki Odos toll road
  • Marathon — east coast, ideal if you are starting your trip along the northern Athens beaches or heading to Evia

Airport pickup and return are also available as paid add-ons (€30 each way).

Can you deliver to my hotel?

On request, yes — we can arrange point-to-point delivery within the Athens area for an additional fee. Tell us your hotel address at booking and we will confirm the supplement.

What time can I pick up?

Our service hours are 10:00 to 20:00, every day. Bookings run on 24-hour cycles: you return the vehicle at the same time you picked it up. So if you collect at 15:00 Monday, your two-night rental is due back at 15:00 Wednesday. Pick a pickup time that fits your trip — anything inside our service window works.

How long does the pickup process take?

About 40 minutes for the first booking — we walk through the vehicle, the tent, the gear, and your route. Returning guests can usually be on the road in 20 minutes.

What do I need to bring to pickup?
  • Driving license (and IDP if non-EU)
  • ID or passport
  • Credit card in the main driver's name (for the deposit hold)
  • If a second driver: their license and ID
What happens at return?

Bring the vehicle back to the same base, with the same gear, by your return time. We do a 10-minute joint inspection: vehicle, tent, gear, fuel. Fuel: return at the same level you got it. If anything is broken or missing, we discuss it on the spot — no surprises after you have left.
